Demography Atlas: famPlus Elder and Family Care Awarded

During the award ceremony of the "Land der demografischen Chancen" ideas competition hosted by RWTH Aachen, the Demography Atlas will be presented on Friday, September 6, 2013. The publication contains 101 ideas for solving demographic challenges in the workplace, selected from the competition entries. famPlus is included with "Elder- and Familycare." With this offering, famPlus provides an innovative solution for companies to address and overcome demographic changes in the workplace and their associated impact on employees and their elderly and sick family members as a challenge.

On the occasion of the "Science Year 2013 - The Demographic Opportunity," diverse and innovative solutions were sought within the framework of a competition of ideas, showcasing how companies can shape demographic change. In six categories related to the workplace, companies, scientific institutions, networks, associations, and clubs were invited to present their economically and socially relevant solutions.

The famPlus offer "Elder and Familycare" was awarded in the area of "Intergenerational Competence and Qualification Programs." The program aims to effectively relieve employees who care for relatives in need of assistance. Successful care of close relatives significantly increases satisfaction. During the consultation phase, it is important to anticipate potentially burdensome factors of family support and care needs, to develop coping strategies and solutions tailored to the situation, and to organize them for the well-being of those being cared for.

The ideas competition and the Demography Atlas are implemented by the DemoScreen meta-project of RWTH Aachen for the Federal Ministry of Education and Research.

The Year of Science 2013

The Science Year 2013 "The Demographic Opportunity" highlights the challenges of demographic change and the role of science and research in addressing them. Interested citizens are encouraged to participate with their questions, ideas, and solutions.

The Science Years are an initiative of the Federal Ministry of Education and Research in collaboration with Science in Dialogue (WiD). Since 2000, the Science Years have been promoting the exchange between the public and research.
